Enrollment Division

Atlanta Ballet's Centre for Dance Education offers dance instruction for students of all shapes, sizes, styles and ages. The Enrollment Division consists of the Creative Movement (ages 2-6, no placement required) and the Student Division (age 7 and up, placement required).

Creative Movement

Creative Movement is designed as an introduction for young children, ages 3 to 6, to the joys of dance. This program is a prelude to formal ballet instruction and emphasizes creativity and group interaction.

Mommy-And-Me [Schedules]

The Mommy and Me class is designed for 2 year olds and an accompanying adult. This class introduces the young student to movement and music. Class meets once a week. Please call for additional information, 404-873-5811 x 310

Divisions A, AI, AII, AIII [Schedules]

The division is comprised of four levels (A, Al, All & AIII), which are based on the student's age. Creative Movement classes combine stories and music in a child-friendly setting which helps students develop body awareness, rhythm, flexibility, coordination, and confidence. By the end of Creative Movement, students will have been introduced to beginning ballet steps, terminology, and the basics of dance. Students in the Creative Movement division are expected to attend class once per week.

Student Division

The Student Division, which includes dancers beginning at age 7 up to pre-professionals, accommodates each dancer's developing technique by increasing the ballet schedule and encouraging students to extend their knowledge of other dance forms including jazz.

Divisions BI, BII, BIII, BIV, Prep, C, D [B Schedules][C,D Schedules]

The Student Division is made up of levels B, Prep, C, & D. Classes in this division are carefully graded by age, physical strength, and development. To ensure each student receives the best level of instruction for his or her age and ability, the Centre requires placement classes for each new dancer. Students are promoted according to individual progress in acquiring technique and strength.

The Centre has a twice-weekly policy: each dancer in the Student Division is required to take a minimum of two ballet technique classes per week. Three to four classes per week is highly recommended. Under the instructor's guidance, these classes ensure the student's mastery of the fundamental movement methods.

Boys Class [Schedules]

Boy's Classes are available to male dancers ages 7 and up in the Student Division. The Centre believes that these classes are essential in the development of a young male dancer's technique. The instructors, both current and former male dancers from Atlanta Ballet's professional company, are both mentors and examples of what today's young male dancer can aspire to become.

Optional Disciplines: Jazz, Hip Hop, Tap, Modern [Schedules]

The Student Division, which includes dancers beginning at age 7 up to pre-professionals, accommodates each dancer's developing technique by increasing the ballet schedule and encouraging students to extend their knowledge of other dance forms including jazz. Jazz is a contemporary dance style seen from Broadway to music videos combining a variety of styles into an overall discipline that can broaden any student's dance repertoire.

For students ages 7 and up, Jazz classes can be taken in addition to the student's ballet technique requirements. Students scheduled to take at least two ballet technique classes are allowed to add one or more Jazz classes to their schedule for an additional fee (please see the tuition schedule). Students not taking any ballet classes must take two Jazz technique classes per week. Students not taking any ballet classes, who wish to take only one Jazz class, may do so through the Teen classes.

Teen Class [Schedules]

For students ages 13 and up, the Student Division now offers Teen classes in both Ballet and Jazz. Only one class a week is required; however, students are highly encouraged to take both classes.
