Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre
Featuring "Secus" by Ohad Naharin, "Seven Sonatas" by Alexei Ratmansky & a world premiere by Company artist Tara Lee

Modern Choreographic Voices presents the works of some of today’s most sought-after contemporary choreographers. ArtsATL named 2013's program the "Best Performance by an Atlanta-based Company."

Ohad Naharin is back this season with the Atlanta Ballet premiere of the incendiary Secus after electrifying audiences last year with Minus 16

From Alexei Ratmansky, the current artist in residence at American Ballet Theatre and former artistic director of the legendary Bolshoi Ballet, Atlanta Ballet presents the hypnotic Seven Sonatas

Tara Lee returns with a world premiere after awing audiences with 2012’s Pavo. Lee, also an accomplished dancer entering her eighteenth season with Atlanta Ballet, has proven that she is a multi-dimensional and distinctive emerging choreographer.

MAYhem
May 16-18, 2014
Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre
Featuring the world premieres of The Exiled by Atlanta Ballet Resident Choreographer Helen Pickett & THREE by Artistic Director John McFall
and the return of 1st Flash by Jorma Elo

MAYhem is a no holds barred explosion of creativity and energy demonstrating the unparalleled talent of Atlanta Ballet. Revolutionary and spine-tingling, MAYhem proves that Atlanta Ballet is not just pushing, but catapulting over the boundaries of contemporary dance.

Artistic Director John McFall is back with his first premiere in 6 years that highlights the athleticism and individual talents of the artists that he has so carefully brought together.

In 2007, Dance Magazine marked Helen Pickett as one of “25 to Watch,” and Atlanta Ballet named her its new resident choreographer in 2012. Pickett’s choreography creates connections between the dancers and audience that are palpable. The senses ignite, thus uniting the performers and viewers on a shared physical and emotional journey. For her first of three new works for Atlanta Ballet, Helen Pickett will present the world premiere of The Exiled, which she has created in Atlanta Ballet's studios this season.

Jorma Elo’s futuristic 1st Flash returns this season after its Atlanta debut in 2012. As the name suggests, the choreography astonishes with speed and athleticism and clearly demonstrates why The New York Times’ “Year in Review” named Elo a “talent to follow.”
