Production Stage Manager

PRODUCTION STAGE MANAGER

Reports to: Artistic Director and Production Manager

Employment: Full time


General Description:

Responsible for running of all rehearsals and performances of Atlanta Ballet’s professional company both in Atlanta and on tour.

Duties and responsibilities:

Study and understand completely the dancers' basic working agreement

PRE PRODUCTION:

  • Standardize and produce the following paperwork for all engagements:
    Master score/call book
    Casting sheets
    Sign-in sheets
    Timing sheets
    Production book
  • Produce and distribute the following paperwork to relevant technical staff:
    Master props list
    Props running sheets
  • In conjunction with ballet masters, produce and distribute rehearsal schedules
  • Organize, maintain, set-up, and store all props and scenery for rehearsals
    Acquire rehearsal props as necessary
  • Stock and maintain stage manager’s road-box
  • Attend rehearsals as required
  • Consult with designers/choreographers on cueing and other technical needs
  • Discuss such needs with relevant technical staff as required
  • Create and distribute rehearsal reports as deemed relevant
  • In conjunction with production manager, produce and distribute master production schedule
  • Procure, hold, and distribute all per show artistic staff and dancer tickets
  • Oversee procurement of video/ audio materials for all company productions
  • Arrange for archival recording of company performances as needed
  • Produce copies of Audio media for company performances
    Music CDs/Q-Lab files
  • Oversee organization and maintenance of the company’s A/V library- standardize and implement check-out procedures

PRODUCTION:

  • Load in duties as follows:
    Set-up production office
    Call-board
    Dancer hospitality
    First-aid
    Distribute prop documentation- discuss with props crew as needed
  • Run all rehearsals- coordinate all elements

PERFORMANCE:

  • Call all cues for all departments
  • In conjunction with production manager, create and distribute performance reports

POST-PRODUCTION:

  • Oversee archival storage of all production department documentation

IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Certified for adult and pediatric First Aid, CPR, and AED (or be willing to get certified)
  • Proficient in MS Word and Excel
  • Proficient with PC and MAC operating systems
  • Have knowledge of audio and video editing
  • Have experience with media servers
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Strong musical background
  • Reliable transportation
  • Be familiar or have a background in working with dancers
  • Be organized, detail-oriented, able to work independently
  • Experience in a union setting
  • Be available to work weekends in accordance with the dancer and production schedule
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work independently as well as in a team setting

SUMMARY

Atlanta Ballet seeks experienced Production Stage Manager for full-time position. This position is responsible for the running of all rehearsal and performances of Atlanta Ballet's professional company. Qualified candidates should have 3-5 years of experience as a professional stage manager and be proficient in the management of backstage and technical operations. Ideal candidates should be familiar or have a background in working with professional dancers. This position works directly with choreographers, designers, artistic staff, dancers and production team to track and fulfill the artistic and technical needs for production. Ideal candidate will have knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PC & MAC operations, audio & video editing, media servers, a strong musical background, and experience with unions.
