Q&A with Atlanta Ballet Dancer Jackie Nash

Jackie Nash
Company dancer Q&A

Q: What were your summer plans?

A: I danced in Wabi Sabi and chaperoned for the Atlanta Ballet Centre for Dance Education Summer Intensive. I also took an astronomy class at Georgia State University. I tried to get to the beach a couple times as well!

Q: What was your favorite moment(s) from this past season?

A: Getting to perform James Kudelka’s The Man in Black was an intense and emotional experience that I will never forget. Also, in that same show I got to perform Jorma Elo’s First Flash. The movement and the music for that piece were so fun and beautiful. We even went to go hear the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra play the music because we loved it so much and wanted to hear it again.

Q: Which choreographer or piece are you most excited about for next season?

A: I am very excited to work with Ohad Naharin. Also, I am looking forward to David Bintley’s Carmina Burana. That music is so intense and beautiful.

Q: What is your favorite restaurant in Atlanta?

A: It’s hard to pick one because I love so many. But, I just love the sandwiches at Star Provisions. Also, for a unique and inexpensive meal, I have to say Hankook Taqueria is the best (especially the Bibimbap).

Q: What’s the best “hidden gem” in Atlanta where you like to spend time or visit often?

A: I love going to Octane coffee shop to catch up with friends and do homework. Also, the new food truck park is within walking distance of my apartment, which is so fun!

Q: What do you like to do for fun when you are not dancing?

A: I love to cook and have movie marathons. I like things that have to do with water too like sailing, swimming, etc. Also, just being outside! I still can’t get over how great the weather is here in Atlanta.
