Hot Spot Wrap Up + EDEN|EDEN

Thanks to everyone who came out to our last Hot Spot of the summer and supported the new choreographic series Wabi Sabi, performed by some of the Atlanta Ballet dancers! Did you figure out the connection between our Hot Spot - Ballet in Bloom - and our 11|12 season? Wayne McGregor’s EDEN |EDEN takes a unique interpretation of a new type of "Eden," where cloning and genetic engineering posit philosophical and moral questions.

About EDEN | EDEN Wayne McGregor makes science sexy in EDEN|EDEN. This innovative exploration of genetic engineering confronts issues of immortality, choice and individuality. Set to Steve Reich’s score that combines text, vocals, techno and classical music, EDEN|EDEN offers a visual vocabulary of body structure and musculature that explores a complex meaning behind the movement.

Who is Wayne McGregor? At the philosophical intersection of mind and body, you'll find Wayne McGregor, a true creative amalgam of dance, science, and pop culture. His style is "new-tech ballet," and his work re-imagines the physicality of dance in the context of the cognitive sciences. Yet, his deeply philosophical work maintains a wide appeal through his distinct collaborative spirit. From choreographing a Radiohead music video to working as the movement director for a Harry Potter film, McGregor thrives on the boundaries of interdisciplinary collaborations.

EDEN|EDEN featured along with THE FOUR SEASONS Live with the Atlanta Ballet Orchestra October 23-25, 2011 | Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre Tickets available here.
