It is exciting to think that 120 years ago today, The Nutcracker premiered in Russia. The original production was choreographed by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov and featured the now famous score by Peter Tchaikovsky. Countless choreographers and dance companies have developed their own adaptations of the holiday favorite since then. However, the original version of The Nutcracker did not go over well with audiences and Tchaikovsky passed away less than a year later thinking it was a failure. Now, the story and the score are some of the most recognized works in the world of dance and music!
Take part in this 120 year tradition by joining us at the Fox Theatre now through December 26th for Atlanta Ballet's Nutcracker! Click here for tickets. Great seats are still available!
