A message from Atlanta Ballet's Executive Director, Tom West
June 5, 2025

Cheers to each of you in the Atlanta Ballet Community!
I begin with thank you! Each time the curtain raises on one of Atlanta Ballet's performances, I am grateful to you, our subscribers. You are the foundation of Atlanta Ballet's audiences who know and love the power of this art form. So many of you amplify your love for Atlanta Ballet by making a donation alongside your subscription. We cannot thank you enough. Your commitment to the Atlanta Ballet recognizes that tickets do not fully cover the costs of each performance, and there is more to the impact Atlanta Ballet and the Centre for Dance Education has on our community
You may have heard of national and regional cuts in arts funding recently. As our most committed community, I reach out on behalf of Atlanta Ballet to stand in solidarity with the myriad of non-profit arts organizations in Atlanta and the incredible artists who inspire us across the arts community.
The phrase “unprecedented times” may feel overused, but it holds true today.
We are living in unprecedented times, and the weight we face feels especially heavy right now. The recent announcement of the National Endowment for the Arts cutting funding for our community engagement programs has deeply impacted Atlanta Ballet and the entire community. This loss strikes at the core of our mission at Atlanta Ballet, which is to broaden the reach of dance, engage our community, and create opportunities for students who might not otherwise experience the joy and benefits of dance.
At the heart of our art form lies the profound human connection, synergy, and sense of togetherness. Every class, rehearsal, performance, meeting, or event at Atlanta Ballet is a testament to the magic that happens when individuals from diverse backgrounds and perspectives unite to create something beautiful.
In the months ahead, we are committed to not just persevere for the Atlanta Ballet, but to ensure that the vibrant spirit of our city and our diverse arts community endures.
We invite you to join us in this mission. Your generosity can help keep the magic of the arts alive and help Atlanta retain the title "the arts and culture capital of the south."
We invite you to learn more about a region-wide effort to support the most impacted arts organizations in the Atlanta metropolitan area through ArtsCapitalatlanta.org. We hope you will consider supporting or attending one of the exceptional performances happening in Atlanta this summer.
Together, let’s continue to uplift the arts and inspire our community.
Thank you for your steadfast support.
Tom West
