Inspired by the music of Danny Elfman, and the cinematic styles of directors Wes Anderson, Quentin Tarantino, and Tim Burton, this imaginative production promises an immersive and escapist experience not to be missed.
Kennesaw State University dance professor and choreographer Shannon Alvis will bring her professional experience and distinct artistic voice to the stage in the creation of a brand-new work. Witness her innovative choreography and creativity firsthand and join us in celebrating Atlanta’s vibrant dance community.
This season sees the return of one of choreographer-in-residence Claudia Schreier’s most elegant and intimate works. Fauna, created on four company members in 2022, captures moments of nostalgia as dancers transition between organic fluidity and graphic precision. Set to music by Judith Weir, Paul Creston, and Claude Debussy, Fauna transports us to a world that feels suspended in time - never quite day, never quite night, but rich in tranquil emotion and atmospheric beauty.
Under the Folding Sky by Justin Peck is an intricate and expansive ensemble ballet inspired by James Turrell’s “Twilight Epiphany” Skyspace. Set to music from Philip Glass’s 1982 opera The Photographer, the work builds from simple rhythms into powerful momentum. Sweeping group formations create a cosmic sense of flight, weaving together artful threads of motion that seem to fold the sky itself, inviting audiences to lift their gaze towards something vast, collective, and cathartic.
