Playground is Lee's first piece for Atlanta Ballet, which the Company will premiere March 18-20. The work explores the idea of play, drawing upon his nostalgic feeling for the past and harkening back to the playfulness of childhood memories. As the piece progresses, the tone changes, reflecting the more sinister and mysterious associations that Lee now makes with the act of play as an adult. Dutch pianist and composer Jeroen van Veen’s music helps drive the ominous undertones.
