Social Media Manager & Content Specialist

Position Summary

The Social Media Manager & Content Specialist is responsible for supporting Atlanta Ballet’s marketing and brand strategy through content creation, social media management, audience engagement, and performance reporting.

This role develops, implements, and measures social media and digital content strategies that advance organizational goals, strengthen brand awareness, and foster meaningful connections with Atlanta Ballet audiences, including patrons, students, alumni, donors, parents, and members of the media. The ideal candidate is an exceptional storyteller with strong creative instincts, excellent writing skills, and a passion for engaging audiences across digital platforms.

Essential Responsibilities

Social Media Management

  • Develop, plan, and schedule content that supports Atlanta Ballet and Centre for Dance Education initiatives, performances, programs, and events.
  • Manage all Atlanta Ballet and Centre for Dance Education social media channels.
  • Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and audience interactions in a timely and professional manner.
  • Create compelling platform-specific content, including copy, photography, video, and graphics.
  • Research trends, opportunities, and best practices to increase audience engagement and reach.
  • Track and analyze channel performance and provide monthly reports and insights to the Chief Marketing Officer.
  • Collaborate with departments across the organization to identify and amplify stories that support institutional goals.
  • Attend performances, events, and special activities, including occasional evenings and weekends, to capture and create real-time content.

Digital Marketing

  • Partner with internal and external digital marketing teams to develop and execute paid media campaigns across multiple platforms.
  • Research and implement innovative uses of photography and video for digital advertising campaigns.
  • Coordinate with photographers, videographers, and the Design Director to plan and secure creative assets for marketing initiatives.
  • Assist in the concept development and creation of assets for paid and organic campaigns.

Asset Management

  • Manage the photo approval process in collaboration with the Artistic Director, Dean of the Centre for Dance Education, dancers, choreographers, guest artists, stagers, and photographers.
  • Organize, catalog, and archive photography and video assets from performances, rehearsals, classes, events, and other organizational activities.
  • Maintain and manage digital assets to support design projects, email marketing campaigns, social media, website content, and other organizational needs.
  • Serve as a resource for internal teams seeking photography and video assets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications, Digital Media, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Demonstrated experience managing social media platforms for a brand, organization, or performing arts institution.
  • Strong design skills and proficiency with content creation and editing software.
  • Experience in creating photo and video content for social and digital marketing campaigns.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Knowledge of digital content production and social media best practices.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret performance data and provide actionable insights.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
  • Appreciation for the performing arts, dance, or live entertainment is a plus.
