Summer chaperones will report to the Atlanta Ballet Centre for Dance Education dean, head chaperone, and the Centre programs coordinator during the time of employment. Chaperones are responsible for not only being resident assistants to the students in the dorm but also supervising all the students in the program at the Michael C. Carlos Dance Centre during program hours. Chaperones are always “on call” but will work a rotating schedule with their fellow chaperones.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist with check-in and check-out at the Georgia Tech dormitories
  • Maintain accurate attendance of resident students for each day arriving and departing from classes
  • Inform the head chaperone and Centre programs coordinator of any issues that may arise at the dormitories and Centre for Dance Education – this includes but is not limited to injuries, illnesses, and inappropriate behavior
  • Supervise lunch time at the Michael C. Carlos Dance Centre
  • Transport resident students to doctor appointments as needed
  • Supervise evening and weekend activities
  • Plan activities and events for dorm students
  • Ensure the safety of all Summer Intensives students
  • Other duties and responsibilities as needed

Chaperones will be paid on a bi-weekly basis. To receive their pay, chaperones must submit their hours on Friday, every week. There will be a time sheet at the front desk, where they can write in their names and indicate "chaperone weekly payment" to submit their hours.

In addition to their weekly pay, chaperones will be provided room and meals at the Georgia Tech dormitories. If a chaperone drives students to and from Atlanta Ballet approved events and/or appointments, they will be reimbursed at the federal travel reimbursement rate. Although chaperones will not be able to participate in the Summer Intensives, they are welcome to take any Adult Open Division classes at any Atlanta Ballet Centre for Dance Education studio free of charge. Please note that these classes should not conflict with the chaperones' responsibilities.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have previous chaperone or resident assistant experience. They will have an interest in dance and ballet and work well with parents and children. A candidate with a car is a plus.
